Typhoon Mitag to impact container terminals in Taiwan, China, South Korea, Japan

Extreme weather is impacting ports and container terminals across Northern Asia as the strengthening Typhoon Mitag makes its way through the South China Sea. 

Please note, this inclement weather may impact shipments arriving or departing terminals near the storm's trajectory path.

On Monday (Sept. 30), Taiwan shut down its financial markets and closed schools due to the storm.  Airlines cancelled over 150 flights and several highways across the island closed amid fears of landslides and floods, Channel News Asia reported.  

Typhoon Mitag: At A Glance

• Typhoon Mitag is passing near Taiwan and Japan's southernmost Ryukyu Islands.
• Mitag is forecast to brush parts of eastern China, including areas near Shanghai, Tuesday.
• Mitag should then track toward South Korea and Japan as a tropical storm later this week.
